Manuscript copy of British agent Edward Randolph's 1676 report on New England to the Committee for Trade and Plantations. Also includes copies of a 1666 petition to the Government [i.e. General] Court in Boston and a 1676 report to the king on the delivery of his letters to the magistrates of Boston. Includes a note by James Savage dated 23 Oct. 1830.

Edward Randolph was a royal office holder who spent most of his service in America. He played a role in the revocation of the Massachusetts charter and held several offices within the Dominion of New England. In 1692, Randolph came to Virginia as surveyor-general of customs. He worked tirelessly to shore up the collection of His Majesty's customs. His report on illegal trade in America heavily influenced the Navigation Act of 1696.
